The white card training course is aimed at all workers carrying out construction work, including: self-employed persons, labourers, apprentices, trades-persons, supervisors and project managers. Students will learn the basic principles of health and safety in the construction industry as well as information about preventing workplace injury and illness, workplace injury management and workers compensation.
To complete your White Card training you will need access to the following items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
You may own or be able to borrow these items, if not you can purchase these items from a hardware store (Bunnings) See example or we can send these items out to you via Priority Post for $35.00 when you commence the course.
A National Code of Practice for the Construction Industry was declared by Safe Work Australia. This would result in a standard and consistent delivery of induction training that is given to workers throughout Australia. By having a National Code of Practice this ensures that construction workers are recognised nationally for the induction training course that is completed
The code of practice is supported by a unit of competency within the CPC08 Construction, Plumbing and Integrated Services Training Package. Therefore training is delivered by RTO’s within the Vocational Education and Training
This White Card Training will replace a range of state systems operating different coloured cards (Blue, Green, Red) and regulatory bodies. The transition of this to the National White Card will take place in each state at different times
The unit of competency is called CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry This has been developed to meet the requirements of the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work
Upon completion of this unit of competency a student will receive a statement of attainment and the White Card License.
Every state now has legislation and regulations in place which require completion of a general safety induction course before they can start work in any construction activity. As such, each state has had its own course in place to meet that requirement. However, from 1 July 2009 every state will amend there legislation to ensure that only CPCCWHS1001 will meet the regulatory requirements.
